Montenegro is a small but beautiful country in south east Europe. It’s a great choice for an active holiday, taking in the country’s best scenery.
I had one of the best trips ever to Montenegro. There was something about this smaller European country that really captured my heart. I think it was the scenery – it was breath-takingly beautiful.
The Bay of Kotor is one of Montenegro’s real gems. Its fjord-like mountains rise high, straight from the water. The historic walled city of Kotor is a must-visit destination, and one of Montenegro’s most visited places. But there’s more to the Bay of Kotor. Hike up to Kotor Fortress or Mount Vrmac for views from the top of the mountains around the bay. Or explore at sea level with paddle boarding, kayaking, and boat trips. Make sure you take a boat trip out to the Blue Cave as well.
Montenegro also has stunning mountain scenery. Take the cable car up to Lovćen National Park and enjoy the hiking trails in the mountains here. Or head over to Lake Skadar for beautiful rivers and mountains.
With great food and drink, and perfect weather in the summer. Montenegro is a beautiful place. You can have an active trip, full of hiking, paddle boarding, and kayaking. Or you can have a more chilled trip, enjoying the scenery with boat rides and cocktails overlooking the water.
