Turkey is a fascinating country, at the edge of both Europe and Asia. With a great mix of cultures, world-class sights, and fantastic food, I loved travelling around Turkey.
Turkey has some fantastic, world-class sights. Istanbul is a definite highlight. Two of the most famous mosques in the world are here – Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. There are lots of other great sights here, as well as relaxing boat cruises and charismatic, colourful neighbourhoods.
Beyond Istanbul, Turkey has so much to offer. Gallipoli a a must-visit destination for anyone interested in World War One history, although it’s a sobering place to visit. History fans will also love visiting Troy and Ephesus, including the Temple of Artemis – one of the Ancient Seven Wonders of the World.
Turkey has a beautiful coastline as well. And then there’s my favourite part of Turkey: Cappadocia. This stunning landscape is a great place for hiking, and the sunrise hot air balloons are a real bucket list experience. Read my guides to Turkey to start planning your trip.
