For budget travellers, you can also get the public ferry from Naples to Procida for a day trip. You can get the ferry from Naples to Procida, and it takes about 45 minutes. The ferry port in Naples can be a bit confusing, so give yourself plenty of time before the ferry to find where you need to go. There are signposts, so once you find a signpost you’ll be able to find the ticket office. And then you can ask at the ticket office where the ferry goes from.
You have a choice of two different types of ferries. There are some smaller ferries that take a bit less time and are a bit more expensive. Or you can get the slower, bigger ferry that is a little bit cheaper. I chose the cheaper, slower ferry and was happy with the trip. But a private boat trip would have been amazing, and I would love to do that when I’m next in the area.

The boat ride from Naples to Procida is really beautiful. Whether you’re taking a public ferry, or a private boat with driver, you can enjoy the stunning views.
The views back to Naples once you leave the port are lovely. And you also get great views of the volcano, Mount Vesuvius. This is the famous volcano that erupted and covered Pompeii. So it’s great to get a beautiful, uninterrupted view of this famous volcano from the boat.

You can sit outside on the ferry, and of course on a private boat you can spend the whole time sat outside enjoying the views.

As you get closer to Procida, you also get lovely views of the island of Procida. I loved seeing the colourful houses in the harbour as the boat approached this pretty little island.

When you’re arriving in Procida by boat from Naples, you will arrive in Procida at the main marina. It’s a fairly nice area. There’s a collection of cafes near the waterfront. And also nice views across the water where you can watch the boats.

But the highlights of Procida are a short walk from this marina. My absolute favourite part of Procida was Marina Corricella, which is on the other side of the island.

After spending time in the gritty, dirty Naples, it was lovely to be somewhere so clean and colourful. At every turn, there were really beautiful streets.

Marina Corricella on Procida
Marina Corricella is just beautiful. It’s hard to describe just how pretty this part of Procida is. I just took endless photos to try to capture the magic!

I just loved the colourful pink and yellow buildings, with the boats on the blue sea. And the green hills in the background were stunning too.

I enjoyed walking along the waterfront, looking at all the beautiful boats.
Seafood restaurants for lunch
There are also a great selection of seafood restaurants at Marina Corricella on Procida. You can sit outside, right next to the water, as you enjoy fresh seafood.

I really enjoyed the restaurant La Locada del Postino. The anchovy bruschetta was divine, as well as the swordfish spaghetti and also octopus pasta.

Walk up to the best viewpoint on Procida island
After eating lunch, I recommend walking up the fairly steep hill to an amazing viewpoint over the island. As you walk up the street Salita Castello, you’re rewarded with the most beautiful views of the island.

You can walk around this part of the island even more. It’s really peaceful, with stunning sea views at every turn. And there are even more pretty, narrow streets. I enjoyed walking around here for a while, before it was time to head back down to the main marina for the ferry back to Naples.
