1. The Peak District, UK
The Peak District, in the UK, has some amazing scenery. It’s a great place to spend a week to get away from the stress of everyday life and relax in nature. Hike up the hills, walk along pretty rivers, enjoy the views, and visit pretty English villages. There’s so much to do here, you’ll have a great time. It’s definitely one of my top places to travel solo this year.
I’d recommend this guide to walking in the Peak District (affiliate) – there are some really useful maps and walks of various lengths.
2. Croatia
In the South East of Europe, Croatia is becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination. It’s not as expensive as some places in Europe, which makes it perfect for budget-friendly travel. The town of Dubrovnik is the most popular place to visit. But it’s definitely worth taking some time to head to some of the islands as well and see a different side to this great country.
I’d recommend this great guide to Croatia (affiliate). There’s a great section on Dubrovnik as well as some of the less well known parts.
3. Vietnam
Vietnam is another favourite for solo travellers. Start in the North of the country in Hanoi, one of the busiest cities I’ve ever been too. The food is amazing and it’s such a great experience. I’d recommend leaving plenty of time to visit Hoi An, with its pretty street lanterns. And don’t forget beautiful Halong Bay as well.

4. Sicily, Italy
Italy is one of my favourite countries for solo travel. There are just so many amazing things, and I’ve often made some great friends on my travels in Italy. Sicily is an island in the south of Italy. It has loads of great sights, plus gorgeous beaches and coastal scenery as well. Definitely a top place for solo travellers.

5. New Zealand
The last of my top places to travel solo this year is New Zealand. I’d recommend spending most of your time on South Island, as this is where my favourite scenery and activities were. There are so many experiences here. Go horse riding in Lord of the Rings country, or take a helicopter trip up to a glacier. And of course, you can try bungee jumping as well with your new friends. You’ll never be bored in New Zealand!
