Prague at Christmas is truly magical. This enchanting city comes alive with Christmas markets, mulled wine and music. Get inspired for your next Christmas trip!

Looking for other things to do in Prague? Check out my blogs on top things to do in Prague and taking a day trip to Kutna Hora, and also this great guide to the top things in Prague (affiliate). Or if you’re looking for more Christmas markets, why not head to Vienna for Christmas?

Prague at Christmas is magical. Prague’s Christmas markets really bring the city alive. The main focus of the Christmas markets are in the main Old Town Square and nearby Wenceslas Square. Both of these markets are huge, so you can easily spend hours browsing through the stalls – for a full guide visit the Christmas Market website.

Christmas market food

One of the best things about Christmas markets is the food! How about some mulled mead – warm honey wine. It’s amazing and a nice change from all the mulled wine (although that’s nice as well!)

One of my favourite foods I discovered in Prague: Langos! A massive fried bread with garlic and cheese. Just heaven!

And for desert, how about Chimney Cake – Trdelník. It’s batter that’s wrapped around a stick and then cooked. Forget the calories and enjoy!

Gifts to buy

Christmas markets are a perfect place to do some last minute Christmas shopping and find some really unique gifts to take home to your friends and family. I was particularly enchanted with the intricately carved wooden gifts on display.

Views over the Christmas markets

In the centre of the Old Town Square, there’s a platform where you can climb for views over the whole square filled with Christmas markets. I really loved just being able to take in the view, while listening to Christmas music. Simply magical!

Or if you’re after more festive cheer, Vienna is close with amazing Christmas and New Year celebrations – check it out!

Love Prague in winter! Just dress for cold weather! Also, you can find great glass tree ornaments in special glass shops, they are a favourite childhood and growing up memory and make brilliant souvenirs.

Yes, Prague definitely does get cold in the winter! Glass tree ornaments sounds beautiful, I’ll make sure I look for some when I’m next in Prague.

Wow! Prague at Christmas looks absolutely stunning!!! I love a good Christmas Market, being able to go and experience theirs would be a dream to be honest. Old Town Square sounds amazing, especially being able to see those views.
