Weymouth is one of my favourite seaside towns in the UK. It’s the perfect place to visit for a typical day our at the seaside. Check out my guide to how to spend a day in Weymouth, UK.

1. Relax on Weymouth’s sandy beaches

My top tip for how to spend a day in Weymouth, UK is to relax on Weymouth’s sandy beaches. The beach is huge, with beautiful light golden sand. It’s the perfect place to lay in the sun, or to let your kids and dogs run around and play. Take a paddle or a swim in the clear sea water as well.

2. Eat fish and chips on the beach

Weymouth has some great fish and chip shops. My favourite is ‘Fish n Fritz’ on Market Street, just a few minutes walk from the beach. The portion size is huge, and the food is amazing. Take it back to the beach so you can sit on the beach to eat. No day at the seaside is complete without eating fish and chips!

3. Play the arcade games

Another top tip for how to spend a day in Weymouth, UK is to play the arcade games. There are plenty to choose from just behind the beach. Have fun trying out the games and see what you can win!

4. Walk around Weymouth Harbour

Another of my favourite things to do in Weymouth is to walk around the harbour and marina. I loved looking at the lifeboat and all the other yachts and boats. The view from the bridge over the coloured houses and all the boats was just beautiful. This was one of my favourite parts of my day in Weymouth.

5. Browse the shops in the town centre

Weymouth has a really nice town centre as well. The cute, narrow streets are lined with lots of independent shops. You can buy the traditional bucket and spade for your day at the seaside. Or look at some of the local artwork in other shops. There are plenty of places to buy souvenirs to take home as well.

6. Climb over pebbles at Chesil Beach

Chesil Beach is only a 5 minute drive from the centre of Weymouth, so it’s definitely worth visiting when you’re in Weymouth. It’s a huge, 18-mile long beach made up of pebbles. The tall ridge of pebbles has water on both sides, and the views are amazing. The pebbles are tall and steep in some places, so it can be hard work to walk along it. But it’s a lovely place to relax once you get over the hill of pebbles!

7. Visit the nearby Dorset Jurassic Coast

Weymouth is along a beautiful part of the UK coastline known as the Jurassic Coast. After spending a day in Weymouth, try to take some more time to explore more of this beautiful area. Nearby places like Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Swanage and Studland are all amazing places to visit. Check out my blog about the Jurassic Coast, Dorset to look at ways of extending your trip to this beautiful part of the UK.
