There are so many books, both fiction and non-fiction that inspire me to travel. Some books make me think about life, and the importance of making memories through travel. Other books transport me to that destination through beautiful descriptions and great plots. Non-fiction books about travel teach me about other people’s travels and inspire me. If you’re looking for a book to make you think about travel, check out these book reviews for books for travel.

The perfect 2 day road trip in Washington, USA in April

Fiction books that will inspire you to travel & make you think about life

These fiction books really made me think about my life, and inspired me to travel more. Some books got me thinking about the choices I’ve made in life, and inspired me to live my life without any regrets. Other books made me think about the fragility of life and how it’s important to make the most of every minute we have. If you’re looking to get inspired to travel, or just want a book that will make you think about life and the big questions, check out these book reviews for books for travel.

The beach at Santa Barbara, California

Fiction books that transport you to a new destination and culture

One of the things I love when reading a new novel is feeling like it’s transporting me to a new destination, or it’s giving me a new understanding of a different culture or way of life. The books in this section are a range of genres, but all are focussed on a specific destination. From a murder mystery set in Australia, to a thriller set across Italy, to a teenage cancer story in Amsterdam, a romance in California, or a heart-wrenching story of Taliban rule in Afghanistan – all of these books will transport you to a new destination and culture. It’s a perfect way to learn more about the place you’re planning to visit, and start getting excited for your trip.

Exploring Juneau Alaska in April

Books for a long haul flight

For some people, the thought of a long haul flight can be one of the worst parts of travel. But having a good book with you can make the whole experience so much better. You might find yourself starting to look forward to a long haul flight. You’ll have the chance to read for several hours, without any distractions or interruptions. Check out my favourite books for a long haul flight, so you can start looking forward to this part of travel as well.

If these books have inspired you to think about travel, it’s time to start planning your next trip! The UK is a beautiful place to travel, with beautiful scenery in Wales and Scotland. Or you could visit some of the amazing cities in Europe, such as Prague, Berlin or Vienna. The USA is full of amazing places as well, like the Florida Keys, San Francisco and the Olympic Mountains. Start planning your travels and live life with no regrets.
