My story – how I came to write this book
I started writing the Rays of Adventure Guide to Solo Female Travel during one of the Covid-19 lockdowns in the UK. Before the lockdown, I’d been completely in love with solo travel. I’d recently returned from a 6 month solo trip through South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Before that, I’d taken countless solo trips all through Europe and the USA, trying to maximise my annual leave every year.
I just love travel. There’s something just so magical about stepping into a new destination, with adventures waiting for you. I love seeing new sights, learning about different cultures, meeting new people from all over the world, eating new food, and pushing myself to learn more about myself. Solo travel has helped me build so much confidence and independence. There were definitely some challenges, but I’m so proud of myself for overcoming those challenges, and always having an amazing time.
For me, solo travel has brought so many positives to my whole life. And I want other women all around the world to also experience the life-changing transformation that solo travel can bring. That was my main motivation for writing this book – to help other people take that step, because I know how life-changing it can be.
I also wanted to help encourage my readers not to keep on waiting to travel. The Covid-19 lockdowns have shown to many of us that we can’t take travel for granted. We never know what’s around the corner for us, so we need to make the most of every day we have. I also learned this way before Covid-19, through my personal experience of having cancer and living with chronic illness. We can’t keep waiting to travel. If we want to travel. We need to just go when we can. I hope my book can inspire people to book that trip, and not keep on waiting. Just go for it, you can do it!

There are also sections on ‘My Story’, where I give my own personal travel experiences.
