25. Dan Yr Ogof, National Showcaves of Wales

In the Brecon Beacons, the National Showcaves of Wales were amazing. My favourite cave was Dan Yr Ogof. It was a huge underground world, and fascinating to explore. The underground waterfall within the cave was my favourite spot for a photo.

26. Cardiff Castle library

Another of my 36 top photos spots in South Wales is the library in Cardiff Castle. Cardiff Castle has a lot of great photo spots, both outside and inside. But this library was the highlight for me. I’d have loved to have spend hours sat here reading some of these books.

27. Fishguard, Pembrokeshire

Back on the Welsh coast, Fishguard is a pretty small town on the Pembrokeshire coast. There are some lovely boats in the harbour. Walk into the town to explore some of the cafes and restaurants.

28. Oxwich Bay, Gower Peninsula

Owwich Bay on the Gower Peninsula is famous for its vast sand dunes. I visited on a really windy, rainy day. But that didn’t stop it being an impressive and beautiful spot.

29. Pontiscill Reservoir, Brecon Beacons

As well as stunning mountain scenery around the lake, Pontiscill Reservoir also has a really unique turret-style building in the lake. It makes a great focus for photos of the reservoir.

30. Three Cliffs Bay beach, Gower Peninsula

Being down on the beach at Three Cliffs Bay on the Gower Peninsula gives hundreds of photo opportunities. The golden sand is beautiful, as well as the impressive cliffs and rock formations.

31. The Mumbles

The Mumbles is a small coastal area near Swansea. My favourite part of the Mumbles for photos is the colourful row of houses just behind the beach. Even on a rainy day you can still appreciate the colours.

32. Talybont Reservoir, Brecon Beacons

Talybont Reservoir is another beautiful lake in the Brecon Beacons. If you’re lucky enough to visit on a sunny day, you can get some beautiful photos in the late afternoon of the sun’s rays reflecting off the lake.

33. Penbryn, Cardigan Bay

The coastline around Penbryn in Cardigan Bay is one of the most dramatic in the area. Walk away from the beach and climb high up the cliffs to enjoy the gorgeous coastal views.

34. Tintern Abbey

The ruins of Tintern Abbey is a fascinating historical sight. Near the border with England, Tintern Abbey is a great place to visit on your way into or out of Wales. It dates back to the 12th century and is a great place for photos.

35. Pembrokeshire coastal walks

Pembrokeshire has beautiful coastal walks, and the views are just spectacular on a sunny day. Walk along the coast path with your camera and take photos of the beautiful scenery.

36. Watch the sunset at St David’s Point, Pembrokeshire

The last of my 36 top photo spots in South Wales is St David’s Point in Pembrokeshire at sunset. It’s a beautiful place to watch the sun set and the bright colours light up the sky. And it’s the perfect place to finish your tour of the beauty of South Wales.

Hope you enjoy the 36 top photo spots in South Wales! We almost made it to Wales this past summer. Our daughter got Covid and we weren’t able to go on our cruise to Norway and had to scramble and find things to do and a place to stay for a week. Wales was on the list. Next time.

That’s such a shame you had to miss your Norway trip – that’s high on my list to visit! I hope you’re able to visit Wales soon, the scenery there is beautiful.
